As someone who had never been on a charter fishing trip before, to start off on a musky charter was very intimidating, as I had always heard that a musky was the “fish of 10,000 casts.” Going into that first charter, my husband and I didn’t know what to expect, both from the charter and the experience itself as well as who the captain would be, and whether he would be friendly and personable. Right off the bat with first introductions at the boat launch, I knew Joel would be a great captain and that we were in good hands-- he was so friendly and easy to talk to and so well organized and prepared! Joel was so knowledgeable about where to fish out on the water, he was great at demonstrating and teaching on how to cast correctly, as I had never handled a musky rod before. He was so patient with me learning how to cast. Joel had noticed that I was left-handed but had no left-handed reels currently for me to use… so guess what he did? After our charter he went out and purchased a left-handed reel so that I would have one for our next charter trip! He was so thoughtful in wanting to accommodate my needs and it just shows you how great a person and captain he is. Joel truly wants you to have the best experience and best shot at catching a musky!I have nothing but great things to say about McClung’s Musky Adventures and I have so many great memories now. All our charters have been a wonderful experience, and we cannot wait to book our 4th charter with Joel. I need to catch another!!
